This photo captures the early construction phase of the Xewkija Rotunda in Gozo, likely taken in the mid-20th century. The church’s large dome structure is still incomplete, with scaffolding and open sections clearly visible. Built to replace an older church, the Rotunda was modelled on Venice’s Santa Maria della Salute and is dedicated to St John the Baptist.
