A historic public washhouse built beneath a stone archway, L-Għajn tal-Ħasselin in Fontana, served as a communal space for local women to wash clothes. The structure features three vaulted ceilings and a niche crowned with a cross, set against rugged stone walls and rural surroundings. This once-essential social hub reflects the island’s resourceful use of spring water and community spirit in earlier times.
