Ġgantija Temples' entrance slab

This 1933 photograph highlights a large slab positioned at the entrance of the South Temple in the Ġgantija Temples complex. The slab, supported by smaller stones, offers insight into the architectural methods employed by Neolithic builders over 5,500 years ago. This artefact is part of the Ġgantija Temples, one of the oldest free-standing structures in the world, located on the island of Gozo. Tools visible in the image suggest ongoing excavation and preservation work during the time of the photograph.
