Garzes Watchtower

Categories & Tags: Paintings
A historical depiction of Torre Garzes, built in 1607 to guard the Gozo-Malta channel. The sturdy structure, financed by Grandmaster Martin Garzes, stood on the promontory flanked by Wied il-Kbir and Wied Biljun. Its design, inspired by the Capo Passero tower in Sicily, ensured strategic defense. Sadly, the tower was dismantled in 1848, with its site now occupied by the derelict L-Imġarr Hotel.
