This historic photograph shows the Duke of Gloucester steamer operating at Mgarr Harbour between 1932 and 1939. A vintage bus and several period cars are visible as passengers and cargo are loaded or unloaded. The vessel served as a regular means of transport between Malta and Gozo. In 1939, it was requisitioned by the British Admiralty for anti-smuggling operations during the war, but was returned to its Gozitan owners in 1942.
